Our hiring process
- Email your application with a short cover note, a link to your current credits, and a link to a recent reel or tape. Use the button below to reveal our hiring address.
- A first reply within 5 business days. If the fit looks right, we book a 30-minute video call.
- Introductory call with the head coach. We talk about your working-actor practice, your coaching experience if any, and whether the roster is a fit both ways.
- A paid trial session with a current Tingley's student. The student gives us, and you, an honest read on the fit.
- A decision, either way, within two weeks of the trial. We do not ghost candidates.
Who we hire
We hire on working-actor evidence, coaching craft, and fit with our students. We do not discriminate on grounds of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by the law in the United States. Where a role requires a child-safety check for coaching minors in the United States, we disclose that in the role itself.
Independent contractor engagement in the United States
All Tingley's Acting Studio coaching, operations, and marketing roles are independent contractor engagements, not employment. In the United States you engage through an Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number, with Form W-9 provided to the studio and payments reported on Form 1099-NEC. You work your own hours, on your own equipment, using your own method.
You are responsible for your own tax (lodged with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)), Social Security contributions (paid via self-employment tax) and any IRA or Solo 401(k) contributions you choose to make, professional indemnity insurance where required in the United States, and any other statutory obligations that apply to self-employed workers locally. This arrangement is set out in a written contractor agreement before your first session or project.
