Coaching · the United States

Six coaching disciplines, one working actor.

Acting coaching at Tingley's is one-to-one work with a working screen actor, delivered on PT / MT / CT / ET (plus Alaska and Hawaii) time. The six disciplines below cover the full arc of a screen career.

How this works

What makes a Tingley's session different

Tingley's coaching is not a drama school. It is not a class. It is one-to-one work with a working actor, designed around the actor we are in the room with.

We plan with your real material in hand. If you have a self-tape due on Friday, we are working that self-tape. If you are preparing a monologue for a drama-school audition, we are cutting it down to the exact version that will land. Generic curricula exist. This is not one of them.

We put the camera on you and play it back. You cannot coach screen performance without a camera. The camera is what turns a subjective session into an objective one.

We measure progress against outcomes the working the United States industry rewards: a repeatable take, a read casting will finish watching, an agent meeting that ends with a handshake.

Frequently asked questions

  • How long is a typical coaching session?

Sessions are 60 minutes for standard coaching and 90 minutes for audition prep intensives. For young actors aged 7 to 10, sessions are 45 minutes.

  • Are sessions in person or remote in the United States?

Both. Most coaching is remote by video on PT / MT / CT / ET (plus Alaska and Hawaii), and in person is available in select the United States cities on tour. The craft work is the same either way.

  • Do I need to pick one discipline or can I mix?

You can mix. Most students move between audition prep and ongoing scene study. We plan the mix with you in the intro call.

  • What happens on the first session?

We start with your goals, your current material, and a practical read. You leave the first session with a working plan.

  • Do you coach young actors differently in the United States?

Yes. Sessions are age-appropriate, a parent or guardian is present, and material is agreed with the parent in advance. Every coach working with minors in the United States holds a current a background check appropriate to the state (often a LiveScan fingerprint check and a child-abuse registry screening). See our Child Safe Policy for details.

  • How do I pay?

Per session or in eight or ten session blocks at a lower per-session rate. Pricing is confirmed on the intro call.
